The rotary piston engine with radially oscillating blade seals has a rotor with cylindrical section blade recesses (3) in the periphery. Blades (5) are curved, carried on a one-piece web (6) from a pivot (7) at the end of a bracket (4) projecting transversely into the recess. Blades swing parallel to rotor axis; unit CG (8) lies between pivot and blade. Blade shape is such that resultant of all steady forces, which are normal to the surface, passes through the pivot axis. A strip (9) of low friction wear material along recess edge seals rotor-blade gap. Blade, or portion (10) in contact with stator, is made of material with low coefficient of friction against stator material.
