The operating theatre lighting fitting has light sources held within a swivelling lighting fitting body. The latter has lower parts with lenses. Upper part has radiant heat absorbing element. Heat is removed from the operation area for the comfort of the patient and the surgeon. The external housing (1) of the lighting fitting has within its central opening (5) a radiant heat absorbing dished body (3). This turret shaped body may consist of a number of nested hollow truncated conical dishes fixed on the ceiling. Individual light sources are fitted within the hollow conical shells which are open at both ends.
