<p>The parting tool has a replaceable cutting tip and is clamped between two narrow jaws on the front end of the tool holder. The lower jaw forms a support for the cutting tip. The upper jaw (3) whose front part projects beyond the main part of the holder acts as the moving jaw which is locked against lateral displacement. The cutting forces assist clamping. The facing inclined edges of the opposite jaws (2, 3) converge towards the holder inner part. The upper jaws rests on the holder and clamping is obtained by the wedge action caused by driving the cutting tip (4) between the jaws .</p> |
