PURPOSE:To enable to form the narrow track magnetic head at the minimized gap, by forming the minimized gap always at the rear edge of the center land through the short length from the top of the grooved spherical head to the rear edge. CONSTITUTION:Since the bearing length l2 at outgoing side from the top 5d to the rear end at the head bearing 5 is set to a suitable small amount, even if the tape tension during usage and the head pushing amount are more or less changed, the minimized gap is formed at the head gap 6a of the rear edge of the center land 5b at all times. Further, since this l2 is not extremely small, the tape floating gap at the center land 5b monotonously increases toward the bearing incoming side and the tape is not subjected to unnatural local deformation at the rear edge of the bearing, allowing to guarantee the tape wear and the reliability for fatigue. Thus, the narrow track magnetic head can be formed at the minimized gap position. |
