In telecontrol systems with multipoint traffic, the information items spontaneously occurring in a plurality of remote terminal units are activated by general call (A) and then transmitted to the central station staggered in time without overlap in a number of successive intervals, corresponding to the number of remote terminal units, of equal length in the form of messages. With a relatively rare occurrence of spontaneous information items, this means a great loss of time in the transmission. The problem solution provides for transmission of the spontaneous information items from each remote terminal unit with m-fold identical repetition of the relevant message within a frame of n successive intervals (a ... f) in each case allocated to one message corresponding to an m-of-n code after a general call (A), the number of combinations of n elements to the mth class (m over n) corresponding to the number of remote terminal stations (20). <IMAGE>
