Disclosed is a method for treating prostatic hypertrophy with an estradiol derivative-alkylating agent conjugate of the formula (1'): <IMAGE> (I') wherein R1 is C1-4 alkyl or C1-4 alkoxy; R2 is acyl or benzyl; m is an integer of 1 to 3; and n is an integer of 0 to 3. Also disclosed is the treatment of prostatic hypertrophy with an estradiol derivative of the formula (II): <IMAGE> (II) wherein R1 is C1-4 alkyl or C1-4 alkoxy; R2 is acyl or benzyl; m is an integer of 1 to 3; and n is an integer of 0 to 3; and X is hydroxy or halogen.
