Appts. detects and provides an alarm of a fault condition in the transport path for copy paper in an electrostatic copier. One unit monitors the progress of copy paper and provides a signal to the control network when the transport operation is complete. A second unit provides a signal after the period of time the transport should take, the control network cancels this signal if a previous one has been received from the monitor but initiates an alarm if no final signal has been received and the paper is probably stuck.
