A population of microorganisms, partic. bacteria, which are capable of growth on a nutrient medium, and some of which produce an intracellular component which is detectable by a probe or specific reagent, are sorted by changing the culture conditions of the colonies of microorganisms in order to effect lysis of the individuals in the colonies, and transferring the intracellular component, by contact with a distinct support on which it may be identified in situ with the probe or specific reagent, to an area which is then adjusted to the initial culture conditions of the microorganisms which produced the intracellular component. The intracellular component may be a specific protein liberated by a specific nucleic acid fragment, in genetic recombination methods.
|
