In the parent patent endless belt for guiding and pressing a textile web into contact with a rotary drum in transfer printing machine or a steam calender is made of a length of woven wire band which is connected at its ends to make the endless band. Band is woven from warp wire made of bronze and weft wire made of a metal or a temp. resistant plastics filaments or flexible strand made of plastics and metallic filaments. In this addn. warp yarn ends projecting laterally of the outer warp yarns are provided with a sheared edge and coated adjacent the edge with a smooth covering or reinforcement. Wear of drum cover is reduced or eliminated. In the case of pressure cover leakage is prevented by prevention of damage to seals.
