The present invention relates to a method and an apparatus for controlling a gear shift for a vehicle which use acceleration of a vehicle to predict a vehicle speed after starting a gear shift, and use the vehicle speed as an input of a gear shift map to consistently control a time point at which an engine RPM changes. According to an embodiment of the present invention, the method for controlling a gear shift for a vehicle comprises: a step of detecting data for performing gear shift control; a step of determining whether time until a time point at which a transmission input shaft RPM changes after starting a gear shift can be provided as a gear shift map based on the detected data; a step of predicting a vehicle speed or a transmission output shaft rotation count after the time point at which the transmission input shaft RPM changes if the time can be provided as the gear shift map; a step of calculating a target gear end using the predicted vehicle speed or transmission output shaft rotation count; and a step of controlling a gear shift according to the calculated target gear end. |
