The heater unit is for rearing houses, particularly intensive ones for chickens and pigs. It comprises a housing (2) with a transverse wall (16) in which a fan (20) is mounted, with a convector radiator mounted in a wall downstream of the fan. Upstream of the latter is an air intake from the inside of the house, and a further one for fresh air from outisde. Shutters are provided to regulate the rate of flow of the air from outside at least. The wall containing the radiator can be arranged to hinge in the housing on a vertical axis.
