The frame construction intended for glass plates (24), facade-lining panels and the like has a base profile (12) and a cover profile (14). The cover profile (14) is fixed to the base profile (12) supporting the glass plate (24). In order to obtain the frame construction which can be assembled from the weather side and is nevertheless watertight, the base profile (12) has an outer wall part (26) which extends essentially perpendicular to the glass plate (24) and which on the one hand projects as a ridge (28) above the surface (30) of the profile (12) and on the other hand forms at a distance from the ridge (28) two contact surfaces (32, 34) extending at right angles with respect to one another. The cover profile (14) forms an angle, which encloses the base profile (12), and bears on the contact surfaces (32, 34) of the base profile (12) via its contact surfaces (50, 52) formed at the end part. The cover profile (14) has, on the inside of the cover strip (40), a ridge (46) which engages around the ridge (28) of the base profile (12). Situated between the end of the cover strip (40) and the glass plate (24) is an at least partially elastic seal (54). <IMAGE>
