<p>The horizontal carriage counterbalance ensures uniform loading on the guide surfaces at any position of the carriage. The machine tool and equalising device consists of a frame (1) with sliding vertical surfaces (2, 2a) on which the vertical carriage (3) operates. The vertical carriage has guide surfaces (4, 4a) for the horizontal carriage (5). A supporting bar (7) is swingably seated around a point (8) in the middle of its length. The supporting bar carries on both ends (7a, 7b) the terminal eyelets of the cables (9, 9a) which run over the pulleys (11) to a counterweight whose mass equals the combined weights of the horizontal and vertical carriage.</p> |
