PURPOSE:To prepare a styrene derivative and an indenone derivative useful as intermediates of dyes and perfumes, by the addition reaction of a benzene derivative with an acetylene derivative under CO pressure in the presence of a Rh-complex catalyst mainly composed of Rh-carbonyl. CONSTITUTION:A styrene derivative II, e.g. 1,1,2-triphenylethylene, and an indene derivative III, e.g. 1-(phenylmethylene)-2,3-diphenylindene, 2,3-diphenyl-indenone, etc., are prepared by the addition reaction of a benzene derivative I (R is H, alkyl, alkoxy, etc.), e.g. benzene, toluene, etc., with an acetylene derivative of formula R2C CR3 (R2,3 are alkyl, aromatic group), e.g. diphenyl-acetylene, butyne-(2), etc., under a pressurized CO atmosphere, in the presence of a Rh-carbonyl catalyst such as Rh2(CO)4Cl4, Rh4(CO)12, Rh2(CO)16, etc. |
