The actual cleaning equipment which is fixed outside on the window comprises a synthetic material roller (6) for preliminary cleaning. There is a movable rubber wiper lip which provides the final wipe. The roller and wiper unit can be moved vertically over the window surface by two threaded spindles (2, 3) which can be manually operated by a bevel wheel drive wherein the controls can be provided inside the building. The window surface can also be sprayed with a suitable cleaning fluid via a piping system and hand pump.
