Hydraulic flow regulator valve - uses pressure balanced valve operating coaxially in single housing to maintain constant pressure difference of desired valve

A constant flow regulator for hydraulic system applications esp. for small oil flows uses two concentric pistons located in a single housing. One piston (14) has a triangular port (28) that presents a variable restriction to the flow passing from an inlet (18) to the regulator outlet (20). The pressure balanced piston (16) is controlled by a combination of springs (46, 52) located at either end and a feedback pressure signal derived from the output. The pistons operate to maintain a constant pressure difference (P2-P3) even though the inlet pressure-intermediate pressure difference (P1-P2) may vary. An adjusting rod (50) enables the pressure difference (P2-P3) to be selected to achieve the desired value.
