The back-pressure filler unit fits in a can-filling machine having a fluid valve opening automatically on pressure equalisation mechanically operated gas valves and a valve block below the bottom of the filler vat with a centring member lowered onto the can edge to form a seal. The top part of the filler unit extends into the vat and the middle part through an opening in the bottom. The lower part of the unit has an extension in line radially with the axis of rotation of the machine and in which there is a vertical guide bore. A guide pin extending downwards from the bottom of the vat and wiwth a bottom stop flange slides axially in the bore.
