The operating parts of the seat belt lock are arranged in such a way that the pre-determined releasing force applied on the release push button remains constant regardless of the seat belt tension. The lock mechanism consists of slide-in plate (10) and lock part (11). The mechanism also contains push button (12) for the manual release with shoulder (13) and a projection (14). The push button is operated by finger pressure against the force of spring (15) and a further spring (16) is provided for ejecting the plate (10) after release. The locking engagement between the plate (10) and the lock part (11) is achieved by the locking element (17) operating as a gliding block. The blocking element is movably fitted in a triangular recess (19) in lateral direction to the locking plate slide-in direction.
