A digital control device for numerically controlled machine tools or processing machines has a manual data input, esp. for length and angular data, programming data etc., a control and arithmetic unit with input/output devices, a program store, and a display for control, arithmetic and program data. It is designed for simple programming and to avoid the danger of confusion between the two possible modes of operation, i.e. serial or absolute positioning. Two displays are used. One shows serial data derived by the computer. The other shows absolute data input manually.
