The guide is for a conveyor chain running over one or more wheels, having a number of plastic slide strips extending from the wheels under the straight chain runs and each fixed to a rigid supporting profiled section. At the start of each strip (3) near the respective wheel is a plastic lead-in shoe (5) with a rounded surface (6) of the same radius as the portion of the wheel supporting the chain and lying in the same plane. The shoe has a straight portion joining onto the rounded one by means of a transverse shoulder (10) and extending inwards at a distance from the end edge of the rounded one equal to the thickness of the supporting profiled section and the strip fixed to it, and it is fixed to the profiled section at this point.
