<p>A system of irrigating agricultural areas with desalinated seawater uses buried pipes which extend from a seawater reservoir to a crystallisation basin. Hot ambient air is drawn into a vertical shaft of concentric plastic foil tubes, suspended from a balloon, enriched with moisture by a water spray and passed in the pipes to the crystallisation basin. Water vapour condenses on the outside of the porous tubes and irrigates the soil. This produces salt by crystallisation in open basin but does not waste the evaporated water. It is used for soil irrigation instead.</p> |
