The rotational axis (12) of the crank shaft (10) is located outside the longitudinal axis (11) of the cylinder (1), i.e. desaxe. It is at a distance (a) from the axis which is equal to the distance (r) of the piston rod (8) linkage point (13) on the crankpin (9) from the rotational axis (12) of the crank shaft. The compression pressure is greater than in conventional engines where the rotational axis of the crank shaft crosses the cylinder longitudinal axis.
