The device comprises a decontaminable removable trap arranged between a low-temperature vessel operating as a cryopump and an oven-vacuum vessel assembly (F) where chemical reactions which release volatile products take place. The trap (P) is a perforated and blackened metal structure permitting free circulation of gases between the oven (F) and the vessel and is designed as an optical trap preventing the free travel of photons towards helium-cooled cryogenic surfaces situated in the vessel. The device comprises a leakproof door (Pa) of larger size than that of the trap (P), opening into a shell (16) between the low-temperature vessel (E) and a valve (V) making it possible to bring the oven (F) into communication with the low-temperature vessel (E) and means for integrally attaching the said trap (P) to the low-temperature vessel (E), the said trap being then in the path of the gases between the oven and the low-temperature vessel. This arrangement allows an oven-vacuum vessel to be cleaned directly after an operation which has contaminated it, that is to say without reestablishing atmospheric pressure in the vessel. <IMAGE>
