The pick-up head has a cylindrical permanent magnet (5) which is concentrically surrounded by a non-magnetic spacing sleeve (4). The whole arrangement is inserted into a magnet yoke pot (3) which in turn is located in a tubular housing (2). Two Hall generators (7), which are located in transverse bores (6) disposed diametrically opposite one another and adjacent to the front surface (1), which bores pass through the pot (3) and the sleeve (4) in each case on the base of the bore formed by the permanent magnet, are attached diametrically in relation to one another near the front surface (1) of the pick-up head. The bores (6) in the pot (3) are blocked by stoppers (8) made of magnetic material. The terminals of the Hall generators are brought out in axially parallel bores (19) in the sleeve and in the pot base on the side opposite the front surface (1). This arrangement allows flow changes caused by a test sample (16) to be recorded with high sensitivity with largely undisturbed flow lines in the magnetic yoke pot, access by the pick-up head to the test sample being required on one side only. Pick-up heads of this type are used, for example, as pick-ups for control circuits or for measuring the thicknesses of sheets of metal. <IMAGE>
