In the lock mechanism for a circular knitter, where the stitches are cast on and off while the needle cylinder is in the reciprocating mode, beak type impellers are used to operate in any direction of cylinder rotation. These are operated together with pattern with at least one operating butt each and lock cams forming projecting and retracting surfaces for the operating butts. These are operative for both directions of needle cylinder rotation, so that on every second pass of the cylinder in its reciprocating action, the number of pattern slides is selectively increased or decreased. The design reduces the number of components needed to increase and decrease the stitches while the needle cylinder turns forwards and back, allowing the action in either direction.
|
