PURPOSE:To prepare an antibiotic substance by contacting a nutrient medium with antibiotic-producing microbial cells immobilized to a carrier. CONSTITUTION:Living microbial cells capable of producing an antibiotic substance, e.g. Penicillium, Bacillus, etc., are immobilized to a carrier by polyacrylamide gel process, collagen process, or calcium alginate gel process; and the immobilized microbial cells thus obtained is made to contact with a nutrient medium containing a carbon source, a nitrogen source, and other nutrient sources, and the objective antibiotic substance is separated from the medium. |
