<p>Cellulose acetate fibers of improved water and organic solvent resistance. The fibers are prepared by mixing cellulose acetate containing free hydroxyl groups, in an acetone spinning solution, with from 2 to 20% by weight of an acetone-soluble methylolated guanamine polymer having at least one ??-CH2-?? linkage between guanamine molecules, a degree of polymerization of between 2 and 10 and between 30 and 80% of its free methylol groups alkylated with a 1 to 4 carbon atom alkyl group. Fibers are spun fro the solution and heat set in fiber or fabric form.</p> |
