The water temperature measuring unit comprises a temperature gauge display dial (5) which is fitted into the opening provided for the overflow pipe. The connecting lead or pipe (11) passes through the overflow pipe to the main drain hole (2). This lead is connected to the temperature sensor. The sensor is in the form of a ring which encloses the neck of the drain plug seating. The sensor element can take the form of a liquid-filled device, the expansion of the fluid being proportional to the temperature of the water. This expansion is transmitted through the capillary tube (11) to a Bourdon-type gauge mechanism in the display instrument.
