Eliminating fatty contaminants from dry cleaning solvents - by filtering through heated bed of pigmentary furnace black

Fatty materials, esp. fatty acids, alcohol, cholesterol, fatty esters, and long chain hydrocarbons dissolved in dry cleaning solvents are removed by filtering through a pad of pigmentary carbon black. The method is fast and economic, requires little space, and gives no problems with changing filters or recovery of entrapped perchlorethylene cleaning solvent.
