Metal powder is produced in an enclosed granulation chamber with a reducing liquid in the lower part and a reducing gas atmosphere filling the upper part. Metal is poured in the molten state and intersected by streams of pressurised atomising agents. The metal particles are chilled in the gas atmosphere and collected in the reducing liquid. This enables a fine-grained product to be produced which has an extremely low oxygen content. The process is much cheaper than one using nitrogen or argon for the atomisation.
|
