The converter converts AC into DC current, or AC current of one frequency into AC current of another frequency. The current carrying phase (1) is connected through a slip-ring (2) with a full conducting ring to the slip-ring (4) with a conducting half-ring (5) and to the slip-ring (6) with a conducting half-ring on the opposite side. When the shaft (12) is rotated by the driving motor (11) at a speed which corresponds to the frequency of the applied AC, a positive or negative DC voltage can be collected from brushes (8, 9). At any other frequency an AC current of a different frequency can be collected from brushes (8, 9).
