Conveyor passing through wall opening with fire-retarding safety plate - automatically falling into position under gravity when fire actuated signal cuts off power to controlling electromagnet

The wall through which the conveyor passes is fitted with frame (10) which is designed with a pocket accommodating the plate (20). Part of the frame face is provided with opening (12) providing the passage way for the conveyor. To the bottom edge of plate (20) a support (22) is fitted and the cantilevered other end carries a block (23) working together with electromagnet (26). In the case of fire an electric impulse cuts off current supply tot he electromagnet and plate (20) drops down by its own weight closing opening (12). The electromagnet is attached to rod (28) which guided and driven by a set of friction rollers (38, 46) so that for purposes other than emergencies the aperture (12) can be opened or closed by the controlled movement of the plate.
