PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a novel awakening degree estimating method capable of accurately judging an awakening degree of a driver even when driving environments and vehicle speed change. SOLUTION: This device is provided with an FFT signal processing part 3 calculating each frequency component power by performing frequency conversion of continuously detected vehicle movement amount, an evaluation value calculation part 4 calculating a first value P'ave given by summing up calculated each frequency component power and calculating a second value P'slp of the maximum value frequency component power in a designated frequency range including a vehicle lateral travel drift frequency f1 becoming obvious when a degree of awakening of the driver drops and calculating an evaluation value H given as a ratio of the first value P'ave and the second value P'slp, and a judging part 5 judges degree of awakening of the driver based on the evaluation value H. |
