The cylinders (1, 2, 3) of the three-cylinder, two-stroke engine each have a fuel inlet port (10, 11, 12) in the cylinder wall below the mid-point of the piston strokes. Each cylinder has a port (7, 8, 9) near the top of the piston stroke, which are connected by pipes (4, 5, 6) to the inlet ports (11, 12, 10) respectively. When the piston in cylinder (1) is at the beginning of the compression stroke, exhaust gas from cylinder (3) flows from the port (9) along the pipe (6) and sucks fuel from the pipe (13) and injects it into the combustion chamber (20) of the cylinder (1). As the engine rotates, fuel is supplied to each cylinder in turn by the effect of the exhaust gas flowing through the pipes (4, 5).
|
