The function of the magnetic lock is to close a lock or alarm operating circuit when a key bearing permanent magnets is slid into a magazine of magnetically operated switches. The lock is suitable for a central locking system. They key has permanent magnets arranged in accordance with a lock code. The magazine (2) contains several reed switches (7) of the closed type and one (8) of the open type, arranged to correspond to the magnets on the key. The open switch (8) is not influenced by the magnetic field of the key, but opens in the event of a powerful magnet being used for unauthorised opening.
