The end flaps (12, 13) which project from the front surfaces (11) of the package are pressed together and joined with one another by being acted upon between two clamping jaws (98, 99). The joined end flaps are then bent over against the front surfaces and a fixed to a part of the blank in the plane of the front surfaces. Before being pressed together, the projecting sealing flaps (16, 17) of the end flaps are brought into a diverging, V-shaped relative position and the inner surfaces which are to be joined together are provided with a glue coating or suitably activated. Flap folding and sealing tools operate synchronously with a turret or revolver containing radially directed pockets for the packets or blanks.
