Thin walled glass or plastic bottle - onto which a head for a crown cork is welded by microwave energy

The body of the bottle is made without a head and can hold a specific vol. of liq.; the body is (partly) hardened. The head, which is used for a stopper or cap, is made separately out of the same material as the body; and the two parts are locally melted on their joined faces and bonded together. The head is pref. moulded via a punch in a die, esp. using glass or plastic foil; and the joint is pref. made by microwave welding in a resonant cavity, where the neck of body is joined to a ring forming part of the head, which has a thickness resisting the forces involved in applying or removing the stopper or cap when the body has a thin wall.
