<p>Filter sleeve, partic. for milk pipe-lines in dairies, consists of two individual sleeves of non-woven fabric, one inside the other; one end is closed and the other receives a supporting body in the form of a spring or a rod of stainless steel. Pref. the internal sleeve is made from a chemically neutral fabric with loose fibres; it is closed at one end by hot-sealing, sewing or by means of an adhesive. Pref. the peripheral seam is made in the same way. The outer sleeve has a slightly larger dia. and is also closed at one end; it is seamed along its periphery. The sleeves are cheap and can be thrown away after being used once. They cause no deterioration in the quality of the milk. The wet strength is sufficient to prevent tearing.</p> |
