Novel compounds I and II (including salts and N-oxides thereof): where R 1 and R 2 are H, halogen, alkyl, cycloalkyl, alkenyl, optionally substituted aryl, aralkyl or heterocyclyl, acyl, alkoxy, NO 2 , SH, alkylthio, OH, NH 2 or mono- or di-alkyl-amino, are made by reacting an appropriate alkyl R 1 R 2 -pyridine-carboxylate with dimethyl -sulphoxide or -sulphone in the presence of strong base. Pharmaceutical preparations inhibiting immune reactions classified as cell-mediated, delayed-type hypersensitivities contain I and/or II as active ingredient; administration is, e.g. orally or by injection. |
