BITUMEN BASED COMPOSITIONS FOR THICK COATINGS AS WELL AS PROCESS FOR PRODUCING SAID COMPOSITIONS

Bitumen based thick coating compsns. contain (all wt.%): a) 10-50 bitumen; b) 5-20 oxidised paraffin; c) 0.5-8 heavy vegetable or mineral oil. d) 0.5-5 metal hydroxide; e) 10-80 organic solvent i.e. petrol, benzene or kerosene; f) 0.5-6 aryl-sulphonate of general formula (I) where R1, R2 and R3 are hydrogen atoms or 1-16C satd. or unsatd. hydrocarbon gp. and M a mono or divalent metal ion; g) 0.5-6 2,5-bis-alkyl-di:thio-thiodiazole activator of general formula (II)-where R:10-16C alkyl gp.; h) 2-20 poly-butene (500-3000 mol.wt.) and opt. 100% fillers with uniform particle size (% based on total formulation) of sand, powdered quartz, chalk, berytes and/or lamellar and/or fibrous fillers pref. bentonite or zeolite and metallic pigments. - The method of prepn. comprises mixing cpds. a), b) and c) and heating the mixt. to 120-180 deg.C. Cpd. d) is added and the mixt. is kept at 120-180 deg.C for another 20 mins.-2 hrs. Cpds. f) and g) are added as well as cpd. h) dissolved half the vol. of e). The soln. is agitated at 100-140 deg.C for 30 mins. - 2 hrs. The rest of solvent l) is added with opt. fillers pigments suspended in it. The mixt. is allowed to cool with or without agitation, opt. diluted with solvent and packaged. - (Dwg.0/0)
