The continuous printer has a feed roller and a stock roller at the other end of the machine. The paper (4) passes between printing rollers (8a) backed by pressure rollers (7a). The rollers are mounted on horizontal spindles (9, 10). Each printing roller has an automatic numbering device at the edge, incorporating printing wheels. Each wheel has the number types from 0 to 9. The mechanism (12) is linked with the crown wheel (17) at the end of the roller which may be declutched from the main drive mechanism.
