1520194 Shear connectors HILTI AG 12 May 1976 [9 July 1975] 19530/76 Heading E1W A shear connector for use on a steel girder in conjunction with e.g. a concrete floor, has a foot 1, upstanding web 3 and ribs 4, 5 which support the web and are attached to the foot away from, and outside, attachment points e.g. holes 8 for fixing the foot to the girder. The connector is preferably fastened to the girder by explosive-driven fasteners 12, and in this case hollow conical pimples 7 allow material 13a from the girder to flow in around the fasteners 12, whilst washers 14 prevent complete penetration of the fasteners. The spacing of the ribs from the holes 8 allows deformation of the foot and ribs to absorb bending strains. |
