Sheet metal supply bin with height adjustable false bottom - is used to supply press operator with plates and obviates need to reach into empty bin

The bin (1) has a height-adjustable false bottom (4) and may be deployed at machining-stations, e.g. contg. pieces of sheet metal, (5) in the near vicinity of a press-operator. The false bottom (4) may be lifted by degrees by operating a push-button (24) or a foot pedal, and eliminates the need for the operator to reach into the bin when nearly empty. The bin is elevated by motors (6) which are controlled by the push-button (24), and the motors may be of the reduction type. The motors rotate horizontal screws (8) which in turn modify the configuration of scissor frames (19, 20) supporting the false bottom (4). The frames (19, 20) may be 'X' shaped with horizontal pins (21) through the node and a worm (15, 16) a appended to each foot. Rotation of the screws (8) causes the worms (15, 16) to move towards one another and raise the false bottom (4) or vice versa.
