A working machine such as an excavator or crane has a horizontally rotatable upper part and a lower part which may be fixed or mounted on wheels. It has a braking system for the upper part which is designed to secure it automatically against unwanted swivelling. The swivel brake (10) for the upper part is connected to the associated operating unit (8, 9) for the operating hydraulics in the vehicle. This operating unit comprises a switchable control valve (8) which couples the pressure line (7) from the pressure vessel (5) with the swivel brake (10). When the valve is in its operational rather than its reset position, it shuts off the pressure line and couples the swivel brake to the relief line (13).
