Hardener for aminoplast resin adhesives comprises an aqs soln. of hydroxylamine hydrochloride or sulphate(s), ammonium chloride or sulphate(s) and a cure retarder comprising urea, NH3 or hexamethylene tetramine. Pref. the hardener comprises an aws. soln. contg. 0.1-10 pref. 0.5-3.5 wt.% hydroxylamine hydrochloride or sulphate(s), 5-30 pref. 15-25 wt.% ammonium chloride or sulphate(s) and 10-50 pref. 20-40 wt.% retarder. The hardener gives an adhesive with adequate pot life and fast cure rate. The adhesive is therefore suitable for prodn. of plywood, chipboard etc. using rapid multistage presses. |
