Prepn. of fertiliser with increased solubility comprises heating natural phosphates to >=100 degrees C in the presence of soda slags obtd. from desulphurisation fo cast iron In a typical process, a Lorraine soda slag from desulphurisation of 25 tonnes of cast iron was used for alkaline heat solubilisation of 1 tonne of phosphate mineral.
