The wheel rims are used for heavy goods vehicles and are manufactured from a ring which is at first formed from a sheet. Parts of the ring are shaped to different dias. by varying the amount of rolling and/or drawing. Before the ring is shaped to have different dias. across its width, the ring is first profiled, i.e. the thickness of the ring is varied over certain regions by pressing. The thickness is varied in such a way that the required thicknesses of the walls are obtained when the wheel rim is given its final shape.
