<p>1443136 Cement-containing polyurethanefoam bodies INTERPACE CORP 19 Dec 1974 [18 April 1974] 54933/74 Heading C3R [Also in Division F2] A body, e.g. a band, ring, sheet, tape, or rod, is made from compressible polyurethane foam (F) throughout which is dispersed a cement, e.g. Portland, which has been mixed with a precursor (P) or (F) before polymerization. Also present may be silica or sand. (F) may be permeable to water. (P) may be a polyoxy(ethylene or propylene) polyol and may include a catalyst, a blowing agent, or a surfactant. (P) + incorporated ingredients may then be mixed with a polyisocyanate, e.g. toluene or 4,41-diphenylmethane diisocyanate or polyphenylene polymethylene polyisocyanate. The structure may be a crack or a joint, e.g. a joint between a pipe socket and a pipe spigot, the pipe may be of non- metallic earthen-ware or may have metallic components to be protected from corrosion. The body may be a band or ring positioned before the spigot is inserted in the socket, the body being compressed by such insertion.</p> |
