Workpiece handling control in multistage press - has mechanically actuated grab guide with pulse driven electric motors

The control system for the automatic grab in a multistage press operates several grab mechanisms for workpieces. The grabs are mounted on rails parallel to the press longitudinal axis and movable in a vertical direction. The grabs have pairs of bars rotating about their own axes and able to slide longitudinally for actuating the grab components. The actuator drives have independent electric motors connected by racks and pinions with the profiles (1a) and the bars (2, 20). These motors are driven by electric pulses provided by the positioning devices operated by the drive shaft of the press. The press main shaft actuates a rotating cam and the system has tacho generators.
