<p>The emergency release is fitted to a vehicle safety belt and enables the user to be freed in the event of an accident. It comprises a U-shaped plate (1) fitted to one of the body attachment points, the arms forming a location for the end of the belt. This end is first wrapped twice round a bar (2) and placed inside a box (4) around the plate. A keeper (3) is used above the bar to hold the belt securely. To release the belt, a handle on the box is pulled. This disengages the box from the plate and frees the belt.</p> |
